EDUCATION: B.S. Professional Photography, Rochester Institute Of Technology 1976 Highest Honors Rochester, New York LATEST HONOR: Selected for 1999-2000 Who's Who In America for Executives and Professionals.
Rick moved to Rochester, New York to attend RIT and finished his four year degree in Professional Photography in 2 1/2 years. Rick was one of the best in his graduating class. His professor, Henry Leichtner (Leichtner Studios) had already hired him full time. Rick played a key roll in the photographing of high society Jewish, Polish and Italian weddings in Rochester. At age 23 he stopped shooting weddings due to the controlling nature of traditional wedding photography and repetitive posing of pictures that stifled creativity. In 1978 Rick moved to Atlanta. He opened his own studio in 1980 and began shooting annual reports, corporate and model testings. Rick started shooting for womenÕs fashion catalogs like A.B. Lambdin, Tog Shop, Gertrude Stein and RichÕs. Next came architectural and interior design photography for Better and Homes and Garden, Country Home and Traditional Home magazines. Rick continues to shoot for their 50-70+ magazines even today. He continues to shoot national magazines and corporate photography. Rick Taylor has extensive travel experience shooting in 41 States, Finland and The Caribbean. During 1987 he shot a wedding and found he enjoyed it. He attended some wedding seminars to bone up on current trends and found the same people practicing what they did in the seventies to his disappointment. The wedding hierarchy was still in place, teaching the same philosophy! He started to search for new ways and ideas in approaching his wedding photography. Rick attended Denis ReggieÕs (Celebrity and Society Wedding Photographer) Photojournalism Seminar in 1993 for three and 1/2 days to learn about letting the wedding happen naturally as it should. Rick's wedding style today incorporates three approaches or combination style. Clients are able to choose the styles that fit their wedding vision. Rick is a advocate of the Artistic - Photojournalism Styles. ¬ Artistic Approach ¬ Photojournalistic Approach ¬ Casually Posed Approach An individual approach is created for each Bride and Groom determined by the the client combining Photography Styles and Album choices. Previews are presented in 5 X 5, 3.5 X 5, (4 X 6 where appropriate for album) and Contact Sheets for Panorama Swing Lens Camera that creates Panorama Fisheye shots. Final Print Sizes approximately 5 X 10 prints for these pan negs. Rick now chooses to limit his weddings to 36 a year. Rick
